Why EV tyres wear faster
- Battery weight raises the load on every tyre, and instant torque accelerates wear — expect shorter tyre life than a comparable petrol car.
- Many EVs specify EV-rated tyres (stronger construction, lower rolling resistance, often noise-reducing) — fitting the right type matters.
Pressure protects your range
- Under-inflation raises rolling resistance, which measurably cuts range and increases wear and heat — worse in Sri Lanka's climate.
- Check pressures regularly (cold) against the door-pillar/handbook figure, and before long trips.
- Correct pressure is the cheapest way to protect the range our route planner and range calculator estimate.
If a route is marginal in the planner, check your tyre pressures before blaming the battery — a few PSI low can be the difference.
